For business

First Aid at Work Course (FAW)

Our comprehensive First Aid at Work (FAW) course is ideal for most businesses where the risk assessment has identified a requirement for fully-trained first aider/s.

Description Of Course

This course is suitable for employees who are required to act as first aiders or if there is a higher level of risk or training needed than the Emergency First Aid at Work Course.

Colchester First Aid offers this course as a fully accredited RQF qualification or as a ProTrainings (VTQ) CPD certified qualification or, as standard, our CFA qualification. All of our courses are delivered, evaluated and quality assured to meet the new guidelines set out by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in October 2013 and meet the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

Duration

In order to meet requirements, our First Aid at Work Course must be run over a minimum of 18 guided learning hours, over three days, (not necessarily consecutive) and the certificate is valid for three years.

To renew the qualification you can attend a minimum 12 contact-hour two-day FAW re-qualification course.

The HSE strongly recommends that all first aiders complete an annual refresher to update skills.  Colchester First Aid provides annual refresher courses for everyone, with a special discounted rate for returning students.

Certification options available:

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)

Our Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course is more suitable for businesses where the risk assessment has identified a requirement for first aid provision, but not necessarily a fully, comprehensively trained first aider.

Description

This course is designed to develop the first aid knowledge of learners who are required to provide emergency first aid to employees injured or taken ill at work in line with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

Our course is offered as a fully accredited RQF qualification, as a ProTrainings (VTQ) CPD certified qualification or, as standard, our CFA qualification.  The training for all versions is evaluated and quality assured to meet the new guidelines set out by the Health and Safety Executive in October 2013 and meet the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

Duration

A one day course run over a minimum of six guided learning hours.  Re-qualification is required after three years and is achieved by completing a further minimum six-hour EFAW course.

The HSE strongly recommends that all first aiders complete an annual refresher to update skills.  At Colchester First Aid we believe that this is so important that we offer very highly discounted rates for returning students on our open annual refresher courses.
